Nita Ambani presents ceremonial ‘Match Ball’; Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings on the court at NBA’s first-ever game in India

chairperson, on Friday, presented the ceremonial ‘’ to officials of the National Basketball Association (), kicking off thevsgame in Mumbai.

Myles Turner of Indiana Pacers and De’Aaron Fox of Sacramento Kings joined Mrs Ambani and Adam Silver as they handed over the Match Ball to NBA game officials. The ceremonial match ball was presented as a mark of welcoming the NBA to India for their first-ever game in the country.

The teams are playing in two pre-season matches at the NSCI Stadium, marking the first games staged in the country by a North American sports league.

The children, representing Reliance Foundation Junior NBA program, were the special invitees by Nita Ambani as part of Reliance Foundation’s celebration of a successful 6 years partnership with NBA in India.

Reliance Foundation, which has brought the league to India, is celebrating 6 years of their partnership. The foundation has partnered with the sports league through the ‘Reliance Foundation Junior NBA’ program – that reaches over 11 million children from 34 cities in 20 states.

Commenting on the partnership, Ambani said, “We are the youngest nation in the world with over 600 million Indians under the age of 25, and I strongly believe that the future of Indian sport is bright, brilliant and beautiful.”

She also thanked the NBA for ‘believing in Indian basketball and being a great partner’.

Earlier on Thursday, Bollywood actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rannvijay Singha, Tara Sharma, YouTube sensation Bhuvan Bham, entrepreneur Anand Ahuja attended the welcome reception, hosted to celebrate the premiere of pre-season games in the country.
